Description
Wonderful mid-19th c American aesthetic movement large 10" serving fork with fancy engraving and an exquisite 5-sided handle having an intricate 3-dimensional ball finial. At the neck, there is another 3-dimesional circular decoration. This fork also has fancy engraving at the fork's head, finished with 5 sharp tines. The length of the fork's head is 4". The width is 2 3/8". The back of the handle is marked: Wm WISON McGREW / STERLING / PATENTED. This fork may have been manufactured by an unknown maker and retailed by McGrew. He was listed as a Cincinnati, Ohio merchant jeweler, c1860-1870. Fancy 4-letter flourished monogram is engraved on the back of the head, as pictured.
