Description

Presented is an antique, French silver salad serving set made during the late 1800s or early 1900s. This is a large, heavy weight set made out of 950 purity silver, which is higher than sterling silver purity, which is 925 purity. The set includes a serving fork and a serving spoon. The pieces match and can be used together or separately. Each handle is decorated with pretty, raised leaf designs. The bowl of each piece bears the Mercury head mark for 950 purity silver as well as a maker's hallmark. The maker's mark is quite worn, but appears to be AC. Although this set is stamped 925 on the reverse, they are actually 950 silver. They were probably stamped sterling by an American retailer. This set is in excellent overall condition for its age.
